Joel is an associate attorney at Thorp Purdy Jewett Urness & Wilkinson, P.C. He is passionate about working with clients to meet their goals and overcome challenges through problem-solving.
Joel has a general practice that focuses on a mix of both transactional law and litigation in the areas of real estate, business, estate planning, and local government law. In his transactional practice, Joel has experience assisting clients with matters such as entity formation, lease agreements, asset purchase agreements, general contract drafting and review, and contract negotiations. In his litigation practice, Joel has represented individuals through a variety of disputes, including real estate disputes, breach of contract claims, contractor-homeowner disputes, and elder law claims.
Joel advises several municipal clients on a wide range of issues. He assists clients with public contracting issues, public records requests, public meetings laws, and government ethics laws. He also assists clients with negotiating and drafting intergovernmental agreements, real property issues, and drafting and reviewing a wide variety of government documents.
Prior to law school, Joel attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies. Joel earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2021 and was admitted to the Oregon State Bar that same year.
A native of Wisconsin, Joel has called Oregon his home since 2018 and enjoys exploring all that the Beaver State has to offer. In his free time, Joel enjoys playing golf, hiking, and rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers and Oregon Ducks.
